About Thomas H.
Thomas H. Bray earned his J.D. from The Nashville School of Law in 2005 after completing a B.S. in Political Science at Middle Tennessee State University in 2002 and an A.A.S. in Computer Information Systems at Jackson State Community College in 1999. His academic path combined technical training and political studies before he turned to the law.
He began his legal career in the courts. In 2006 he served as a deputy clerk in the Rutherford County Chancery Court. The following year he worked as a law clerk for Circuit Court Judge J. Mark Rogers. Those early roles put him inside both chancery and circuit court operations and exposed him to trial procedures, case management and courtroom practice.
Bray entered private practice in 2008 as a lawyer with The Law Office of Bennett, Parkerson & Bray. He continued with that firm and, by 2014, was listed as a lawyer at The Law Office of Bennett, Michael & Bray. His practice later operated under the name Thomas H. Bray, Lawyer at Law. Over time he handled a range of matters that arose in state courts in Tennessee.
He maintains active memberships in several professional organizations. He has been a member of the Rutherford County Bar Association since 2009 and joined the Tennessee Bar Association in 2015. Nationally, he belongs to the American Bar Association and the National Trial Lawyers Association, both since 2015 or 2017. He also holds memberships in the American Society of Legal Advocates, the National Academy of Family Law Lawyers and the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
The variety of his associations reflects the types of matters he has handled. His practice includes criminal defense, family law, property tax issues and civil trial work. Those areas align with memberships in the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National Academy of Family Law Lawyers and the Tennessee Association of Property Tax Professionals.
Bray is licensed to practice in Tennessee and continues to maintain an office as Thomas H. Bray, Lawyer at Law. He accepts matters arising in state court and now manages cases that draw on his courtroom experience and previous clerkship work. His current practice focuses on criminal defense, family law, property tax disputes and related civil litigation matters.
