About Thomas
Thomas Benner combined an early interest in public safety with formal legal training. He earned a B.S. in Criminal Justice from the University of Massachusetts Boston and went on to receive his J.D. from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School. That academic path set the stage for a practice shaped by the interaction of policy, procedure and individual rights.
Benner has been a member of the Massachusetts bar since 2002. He entered private practice and, over time, moved into leadership at his firm. In 2014 he became a partner at Benner Law, P.C. Those years at the firm have overlapped with a steady presence in the Massachusetts legal community.
His background in criminal justice informs how he approaches cases. He has handled matters that require an understanding of investigative processes, evidence, and court procedure. Colleagues and clients have found his training relevant when cases touch on law enforcement practices and courtroom rules. He communicates technical concepts plainly. He aims to make legal options accessible to clients who often face stressful circumstances.
Benner maintains an active membership in the Massachusetts State Bar, a relationship that dates to 2002 and continues today. He participates in professional networks that keep him current on changes in state law. He has worked alongside other practitioners in the region and has built a practice that reflects long-term local experience rather than a brief stint in a national circuit.
Since becoming a partner at Benner Law, P.C., he has overseen a range of client matters handled out of the firm’s Massachusetts offices. He balances casework with the administrative duties that come with firm leadership. He remains based in Massachusetts and represents clients under state law. His current practice focuses on matters in Massachusetts state courts.
