About Theodore David Vicknair
Theodore David Vicknair Sr. built a career at the intersection of tax, accounting and civil law. He pairs courtroom experience with technical accounting training. The result is a practice that moves between litigation, tax controversy and estate administration.
He studied business and accounting at the University of New Orleans, earning a B.S. in Business Management in 1986 and an M.S. in Accounting, Taxation Option, in 1992. He returned to law school at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and received a J.D. in Civil Law in 1996. He later completed a Master of Laws in Taxation at the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 1999.
Vicknair began his professional life in accounting. He worked as a tax accountant for Louisiana Land and Exploration Company in 1994. That early work in corporate tax led him into consulting roles. He served as an international tax consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2000 and later worked as a tax consultant at Langlands, Grossa & Booth in 2005. He moved into private firm practice in the early 2000s, joining Weiler & Rees as an associate in 2001 and later serving as an associate at Provosty, Sadler, deLaunay, Fiorenza & Sobel in 2006 and at Crowell & Owens in 2009. He has led his own practice since 2010, operating as president of Vicknair Law Office, LLC.
His credentials reflect cross-disciplinary training. He is board certified as a Tax Law Specialist and as an Estate Planning and Administration Specialist by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization. He is also a Louisiana certified public accountant, a member of the Louisiana and Nevada bars, and admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court, the Fifth Circuit and both the Eastern and Western Districts of Louisiana.
Colleagues and clients know him for methodical preparation and an emphasis on technical accuracy. He handles federal tax litigation and appeals as well as transactional matters that require accounting analysis. He also manages estate planning and administration work, including probate and related tax issues.
He maintains an active trial and advisory practice through Vicknair Law Office, LLC. He currently concentrates on tax litigation, estate planning and probate matters, and related federal and state tax issues.
