He continued his education at Stetson University College of Law, earning his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in 1980.

While at Stetson, he served as an editor of the Stetson University Law Review, honing his skills in legal writing and analysis. Following his graduation, he gained inexperience by clerking for Justice Ben F. Overton of the Florida Supreme Court, a role that provided him with unique insights into the judicial process. Ted is a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer, specializing in accident and personal injury law, wrongful death, and professional malpractice. His experience allows him to represent both plaintiffs and defendants, giving him a comprehensive perspective on cases involving negligence and professional malpractice. Ted served as President of the Sarasota County Bar Association Young Lawyers Section and The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division, showcasing his dedication to fostering the next generation of legal professionals. Additionally, he has chaired the Second District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission and the Twelfth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission, playing a crucial role in the selection of judges within Florida's judicial system.
