About Teymur
Teymur Askerov grew up interested in law and went straight from the University of Washington at Tacoma to its law school. He earned a B.A. in 2008 and completed his J.D. at the University of Washington School of Law in 2012. Those years in Seattle shaped his understanding of the region’s courts and legal culture.
He began his legal career after law school and now practices at Black & Askerov, PLLC. He is listed as a lawyer at law there and has built a practice that regularly appears in both state and federal settings. Colleagues describe him as steady in court and methodical in preparing cases, preferring a clear strategy over flourish.
He is a current member of the Washington State Bar and holds memberships in several judiciary-related organizations. He belongs to the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is also admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and is a member of the Federal Bar for the Western District of Washington. Those admissions allow him to represent clients across multiple levels of the federal system as well as in state proceedings.
Askerov’s work covers criminal defense matters in state and federal court. He represents individuals at pretrial proceedings, trials, and on appeal. He also handles related litigation tasks such as motions practice and sentencing advocacy. His membership in regional criminal defense organizations connects him to peers and helps keep him current on developments in criminal law and procedure.
Outside the courtroom he participates in local legal networks and attends continuing legal education events to maintain his practice standards. He works from Black & Askerov, PLLC, and spends much of his time on case preparation, client counseling, and litigation in Washington courts. He is an active member of the Washington State Bar and the federal bars to which he is admitted. He currently concentrates his practice on criminal defense matters in both state and federal courts.
