About Terry
Terry Cipriani earned a J.D. from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 1994. He has practiced in New York for many years, concentrating on matters that affect older adults and their families. Cipriani's legal training at Touro set the stage for a career spent largely inside Surrogate's Court and the offices that support estate and long-term care planning.
Cipriani's career has combined courtroom work and client counseling. He represents executors, trustees and personal representatives in probate and trust administration. He also prepares wills, living trusts, powers of attorney, and health care proxies. On the protective side of the docket he handles guardianship proceedings and counsel for incapacity planning. On the financial side he advises clients on Medicaid eligibility and long-term care planning, helping families understand how benefits, income and assets interact under New York law.
He is a Certified Elder Law Attorney through the National Elder Law Foundation, a credential that recognizes specialized knowledge in elder law. Cipriani belongs to several professional groups that reflect that specialization. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and holds memberships in the New York State Bar Association’s Trusts and Estates Section and its Elder Law Section. At the county level he serves on the Suffolk County Bar Association’s Surrogate’s Court Committee and the Elder Law Committee. Those roles keep him connected to developments in Surrogate’s Court procedure and in state-level estate and elder law practice.
Cipriani also maintains a presence outside the courtroom. He is a trustee of the North Shore Public Library and serves as a director of the CDM Miller Place Chamber of Commerce. Those positions place him in regular contact with community organizations and local businesses, and they shape his day-to-day understanding of the practical concerns clients bring into his office.
He practices under the name Terry Cipriani, PLLC. There he handles matters for individuals and families as well as for fiduciaries acting in executor or trustee roles. Cipriani's work typically involves a mix of document drafting, counseling through life transitions and representation in Surrogate's Court. He remains active in the bar sections and local committees that address elder, probate and trusts law, and his practice concentrates on elder law, estate planning, probate, Medicaid planning and Surrogate's Court matters.
