Terry P — Abeyta is a personal injury attorney based in Yakima, Washington. He has been practicing law in Washington since 1976. Abeyta earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Washington School of Law in 1976, graduating in the top 15% of his class. Prior to that, he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Whitman College in 1973, where he was first in his class. He also holds an Associate of Arts degree from Yakima Valley College, where he graduated first in his class in 1971.
Abeyta is the managing partner at Abeyta Nelson Injury Law, a firm specializing in personal injury cases. The firm has offices in Yakima, Ellensburg, and Sunnyside, Washington. He has achieved significant success in his practice, securing some of the highest personal injury settlements in several Washington counties, including Yakima, Franklin, Kittitas, Grant, Klickitat, and Stevens. Throughout his career, Abeyta has been recognized for his contributions to the legal field. He has been named a Super Lawyer every year since 1999 and was the first plaintiff’s lawyer from Central Washington named to The Best Lawyers in America.
In 2022, he was named Lawyer of the Year for Central Washington by Best Lawyers. Abeyta has held leadership roles in various legal organizations. He served as the president of the Washington Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates and has been an officer in the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association. He was also the past president of the Yakima County Bar Association — In 2018, he was named Alumnus of the Year by Yakima Valley College.
