About Taylor
Taylor Bell grew up interested in numbers and rules. That interest took a conventional route through finance at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where they earned a B.S. in 2007. Bell then turned to the law and completed a J.D. at the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2011.
Bell began legal practice as a public defender the same year they graduated. Those early years were spent in courtrooms where trial preparation and quick legal judgment matter. The public defender role exposed Bell to a wide range of cases and client needs. It also provided regular experience in plea negotiations, evidentiary hearings, and jury trials.
In 2017 Bell joined Jeffcoat Criminal Defense Lawyers as a criminal defense attorney. That move shifted Bell from government representation to private defense practice. At Jeffcoat, Bell continued to handle trials and pretrial litigation. The work there has involved managing client expectations, drafting motions, and advocating at hearings.
Bell holds membership in the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and is involved with Injured Workers Advocates. Those affiliations reflect ongoing engagement with peers and continued attention to issues that intersect criminal law and worker welfare. Bell also maintains other professional memberships.
Colleagues describe Bell as methodical in case preparation and pragmatic in court. Bell's courtroom experience stems from years of handling misdemeanor and felony matters as both a public defender and as a private defense lawyer. That background gives Bell familiarity with trial practice, procedural rules, and the demands of courtroom advocacy.
Outside the courtroom, Bell's academic background in finance informs forensic elements of certain cases. An understanding of financial records can be useful in matters that involve asset investigation, restitution questions, or complex factual patterns where numbers matter.
Clients who work with Bell can expect direct communication and a steady presence at hearings. Bell balances case strategy with the practical realities clients face after arrest or indictment. Bell remains active in professional circles and continues to refine skills through practice and association participation.
Bell currently practices criminal defense at Jeffcoat Criminal Defense Lawyers.
