About Tasha
Tasha Ricks began her academic journey in Houston. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Houston–Clear Lake in 2003 and followed that with a Master of Arts in Education from Rice University in 2007. She completed her legal studies at South Texas College of Law in 2009 before entering practice in Texas.
Her early legal years were spent learning the craft in small firm settings. In 2012 she worked as a law clerk and lawyer at Nations Law Office. The next year she moved to Barton Law Office as an associate, and then spent time at Ahn Law Office in 2014. That same year she launched her own practice, Tasha Ricks Law Office, and handled matters as a solo practitioner while maintaining ties to the local bar.
Ricks joined the State Bar of Texas in 2013 and has maintained active membership since then. She also belongs to the State Bar’s Family Law Section, which she joined the same year and continues to hold. Early in her career she was involved in several specialty sections and local associations, including the State Bar Litigation and Insurance Law sections, the Texas and Harris County criminal defense groups, and the Houston Young Lawyers Association. Many of those memberships were concentrated in the 2013–2015 period, reflecting a phase of broad trial and litigation exposure.
Her practice path has included both private ownership and association with larger practices. In 2014 she ran her own law office, where she managed intake, client counseling and courtroom work. In 2024 she returned to practice as a lawyer with the Thomas J Henry firm. That move placed her in a different practice environment, working on cases alongside a team rather than as a solo practitioner.
Colleagues describe her as steady under pressure in court and pragmatic at the negotiation table. She has handled matters that touch family law and civil litigation, and her association history shows experience across litigation, insurance, and criminal defense issues. Her courtroom experience began early and continued through her years running a solo office and later in team settings.
Ricks is licensed to practice in Texas and remains an active member of the State Bar. She continues to handle family law and civil litigation matters in her current role at Thomas J Henry, where she practices in Texas courtrooms and counsel chambers.
