About Suzanne Alexandra
Suzanne Alexandra Ascher built the early part of her career on numbers. She graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Accounting from Saint John’s University’s College of Business Administration, Staten Island campus, in 1992. She later earned a J.D. from New York Law School and completed an LL.M. in Taxation at the same school. She is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant in New York State.
Her dual training in law and accounting shaped a steady path into tax practice. Admitted to practice in New York, she also holds admission to the United States Tax Court and the United States Supreme Court. Those credentials have allowed her to appear for clients in both administrative and judicial settings. She handles matters that require technical tax analysis as well as courtroom advocacy before the Tax Court.
On Staten Island and across the boroughs, Ascher has taken visible roles in the local bar. She served on the Richmond County Bar Association’s Board of Directors from 2007 to 2013. She later served as co-chair of the bar’s Tax Section and continues to represent the association as a member of the IRS Triboro Liaison Group covering Staten Island, Brooklyn, and Queens. Those positions placed her in regular contact with IRS officials and local practitioners working on compliance and dispute-resolution matters.
Her practice blends tax controversy work and transactional advice. She advises individuals and small to mid-sized entities on federal and state tax issues, represents clients in IRS matters, and prepares filings and positions that are often technical in nature. Clients see the benefit of an attorney who also holds CPA credentials when cases require analysis of returns, audits, and tax accounting.
Colleagues describe Ascher as methodical and detail-oriented in preparing cases for administrative hearings and for litigation. She maintains an active presence in Richmond County professional circles and participates in continuing education programs tied to taxation and accounting. She handles tax matters in New York and represents clients in proceedings before the United States Tax Court and other federal forums. Her current practice centers on federal and state tax issues, tax controversy, and advisory work.
