About Susan M.
Susan M. Lewis earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi in 1995 and completed her law degree at Mississippi College School of Law in 2000. She moved through law school at a steady pace, finishing her J.D. the same year she began work in the courts. The sequence of degrees and early professional choices shaped a foundation in Louisiana law and practice. Her academic record set up a transition to courtroom work and legal research that would define the first years of her career.
After law school, Lewis served as a law clerk to the Hon. Jack T. Marionneaux of the 18th Judicial District Court in the Parish of Iberville in 2000. In that role she worked directly with the judge on briefs, opinions and procedural matters. The clerkship put her in the middle of daily courtroom operations and motion practice. It also gave her hands-on experience with Louisiana civil and procedural rules, and an inside view of how trial courts manage case flow.
Lewis entered private practice and by 2007 was listed as an associate at Kean Miller LLP. Her time in private practice has included representation of clients in matters governed by Louisiana law and appearances in state court. She is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Baton Rouge Bar Association. Those professional ties keep her engaged with changes in state law and local court practices, and they connect her with other lawyers working across the same bench and bar.
Throughout her career Lewis has moved between court-side work and law firm practice. That experience informs how she approaches cases at Kean Miller LLP. She remains admitted to practice in Louisiana and continues to work on matters that arise under Louisiana statutes and court decisions. Her current practice is at Kean Miller LLP, where she handles legal matters arising under Louisiana law.
