About Susan M
Susan M Gibson built a path to law that began in the classroom and moved steadily into courtrooms. She earned a B.S. from Loyola University Chicago (B.S., 2003) after studying psychology and a related minor in the psychology of crime and justice. She then completed an M.A. in Forensic Psychology at Marymount University (M.A., 2004) before turning to law and taking a J.D. from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law (J.D., 2008).
Those academic choices shaped how she approaches cases. Early on she combined legal study with an interest in human behavior. That combination informed her work from her first associate role in 2010 through later positions at larger firms. She joined Sattin & Ronca as an associate in 2010 and moved to Fox Rothschild in 2012. She continued as an associate at Antheil Maslow MacMinn in 2015 and then at Cooley & Handy in 2018. Each position exposed her to a range of dispute resolution and courtroom practice, sharpening her courtroom familiarity and client-side counseling.
Gibson is admitted to practice in multiple jurisdictions. Her admissions include Illinois, the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. She is an active member of the Bucks County Bar Association and maintains ties within local legal communities.
Her background in forensic psychology remains a through line. It shapes how she evaluates custody evaluations, expert testimony and client interviews. She draws on that training when preparing cases, drafting pleadings, or presenting evidence. Those skills also inform settlement discussions and alternative dispute resolutions, where understanding family dynamics and expert reports often matters as much as statutes and precedent.
In 2021 Gibson opened her own practice, Gibson Family Law, PLLC, and serves as the firm’s owner. The decision to start a boutique practice allowed her to structure client work and case management according to what she had learned over a decade in firms. She built a practice that handles contested and uncontested matters and that coordinates with mental health professionals and financial experts when cases require them.
She maintains a steady presence in court and at the negotiating table. She currently practices family law at Gibson Family Law, PLLC, handling divorce, child custody, support and related family law matters.
