About Subodh
Subodh Chandra built his legal foundation at Stanford and Yale. He earned a B.A. in Political Science and Sociology from Stanford University in 1989 and a J.D. from Yale Law School in 1994. Those years set the stage for a career that has moved between public service and private practice.
Early in his career he held a series of staff and associate positions at established law firms. He worked as an associate at Christensen, Miller, Fink, Jacobs, Glaser, Weil & Shapiro in 1996 and at Thompson Hine in 1997. Those roles gave him experience on firm-side matters and exposure to litigation and transactional work typical of mid-sized practices.
Chandra’s career also took him into national and municipal government. In 1994 he served as Special Presidential Counsel for the American Bar Association. He later joined the U.S. Department of Justice as an Assistant United States Lawyer in 1999. In 2002 he moved to municipal law, serving as Director of Law for the City of Cleveland, Ohio. That position placed him at the intersection of city governance and legal administration.
In 2005 he left municipal service to lead his own practice. As Managing Partner of The Chandra Law Office LLC, he has overseen a small firm that combines litigation and advisory work. His trajectory reflects a balance between courtroom experience and legal management. He has worked in several jurisdictions over the years and maintains licenses in New Mexico, California, and Ohio.
Colleagues describe him as someone who moves comfortably between the procedural demands of public offices and the client-driven pace of private practice. He has handled regulatory, municipal, and federal matters, and his background includes both trial preparation and policy-oriented legal work. The variety of positions across government and firm settings informs the way he approaches case strategy and client counseling.
Outside of those roles, Chandra has remained outward-facing in the legal community. He has held memberships in professional associations and participated in bar-related activities. That contact with peers has been a steady feature of his professional life.
He currently practices at The Chandra Law Office LLC, handling municipal and federal matters as well as private-client representation.
