About Steven
Steven Shakhnevich earned his J.D. from Widener University Delaware School of Law in 2006. He completed his legal education after several years working in the legal support field. That early exposure shaped his approach to the law and the way he manages client matters.
He began his legal career as a paralegal in 1999 at Sherman & Basichas, L.L.P. The role gave him hands-on experience with case preparation and courtroom procedure. After law school he joined Jaffe & Koumourdas L.L.P. as a lawyer in 2006. That position placed him directly in client representation and trial work, and it served as a bridge to private practice.
In 2007 he became a partner at Shakhnevich Law Group, P.C. Since then he has run the firm from an office located in The Woolworth Building. Colleagues and clients see him around the firm’s Manhattan office, where he handles intake, client meetings and litigation planning. He has overseen cases across state lines, often coordinating filings and strategy for matters that touch both New Jersey and New York.
He is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey. He maintains memberships in the American Bar Association and the New Jersey State Bar Association. Those connections keep him informed about shifting rules and procedure in both states. He also draws on earlier paralegal experience when supervising casework and delegating research tasks to junior staff.
Shakhnevich’s practice has an operational feel. He moves quickly from client interview to drafting to court appearances. He keeps files organized and deadlines visible. The firm handles a steady docket and he remains involved in the day-to-day work of preparing filings and appearing where necessary.
He works from The Woolworth Building office and manages the small team at Shakhnevich Law Group, P.C. He represents clients in matters that arise in New York and New Jersey and currently focuses on representing clients in matters across those jurisdictions.
