About Steven Robert
Steven Robert Anderson built a legal foundation at the University of Kansas. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration in 1975 and a J.D. in 1978. Three decades after his law degree he returned to KU for an LL.M. in Elder Law, awarded in 2007.
His career has moved between private practice and institutional roles. In 1989 he became a shareholder at Levy and Craig, P.C., a role that placed him squarely in matters of estates and client counseling. In 2001 he took a position as vice president and trust officer at Commerce Trust Company, where he handled trust administration and fiduciary duties for personal and institutional clients.
Anderson’s bar and association memberships trace a steady professional presence in the region. He is a member of the Kansas and Johnson County bar associations since 1981. He joined the Missouri Bar Association in 1990 and has belonged to the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys since 2009. Those memberships reflect sustained engagement with the legal communities in both Kansas and Missouri.
Education and work experience have shaped the subjects that occupy most of his practice. The LL.M. in Elder Law underpins work on issues that affect older adults: long-term care planning, Medicaid eligibility, guardianship and special needs planning. His time as a trust officer informs work on trust drafting, administration and issues that surface when fiduciaries manage assets over long periods.
Colleagues describe Anderson as precise in document drafting and cautious in advising fiduciaries. He has handled matters that require coordination between estate plans, trust instruments and financial institutions. The combined perspective of private practice and institutional trust work allows him to advise families, trustees and executors on the practical steps to carry out estate plans and navigate probate and trust administration.
He is admitted to practice in Kansas and Missouri and continues to maintain active memberships in regional and national bar groups. He currently practices in the Kansas-Missouri area, concentrating on elder law, estate planning, trust administration and related fiduciary matters.
