About Steven
Steven Pick has worked in the law since the early 1990s. He studied finance and real estate before shifting into law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Finance with a Real Estate concentration from Texas Christian University in 1989. He then completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Arkansas - Fayetteville in 1992.
He began his legal career the same year he finished law school, joining Frederick F. Cohn, Ltd. as a lawyer. That period gave him his first courtroom experience and an introduction to courtroom procedure at both the state and federal levels. A decade later he established his own practice. In 2002 he became president of Steven D. Pick, P.C., a firm he has led since then.
Over the years he has built credentials to practice across a range of tribunals. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the 7th Circuit. He also holds admission to appear before the U.S. Supreme Court and to practice in Immigration Court. Those admissions reflect a career that spans state, federal appellate and immigration systems.
His background in finance and real estate informs part of his legal approach. That early academic work gave him a grounding in transactional concepts and the financial side of property matters. He has combined that foundation with litigation experience to handle cases that touch on procedural as well as substantive law.
Colleagues and clients have noted his long tenure in practice. He has spent more than two decades building a firm and maintaining courtroom presence. He has handled matters that required appearances in federal appellate settings and in immigration proceedings. He also manages work that arises under Illinois law.
Outside of direct advocacy, his career shows a steady progression from associate to firm president. That arc has involved both casework and the administrative responsibilities of running a small firm. It has required balancing courtroom preparation with client counseling and the operational duties of legal practice.
He currently practices through Steven D. Pick, P.C., handling matters in immigration and federal appellate courts.
