About Steven M.

Steven M. Silverberg built a legal career that spans more than four decades. He earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 1972 after completing a B.A. at Brooklyn College in 1969. Those academic years set a foundation for a practice that has moved between the courtroom and the classroom.

He took an early turn into teaching as an adjunct professor at New York Law School in 1990. That role lasted long enough to influence the way he approached casework: clear explanations, careful preparation and an eye for appellate issues. A few years later he entered private practice as a partner at Kirkpatrick & Silverberg LLP in 1992. In 2001 he joined Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker LLP as a partner. Since 2005 he has been of counsel at Silverberg Zalantis LLC.

Throughout his career he has appeared in a range of forums. He is admitted to practice in New York and has standing before the U.S. Supreme Court. His credentials include admission to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and to the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. Those admissions reflect a practice that regularly engaged both trial and appellate work in state and federal venues.

Colleagues and clients have relied on his litigation experience and his familiarity with appellate procedure. He has handled filings and oral argument in federal district courts and has participated in appeals in the Second Circuit. His time teaching at New York Law School also informed his approach to briefing and oral advocacy, and he has been involved in preparing submissions for higher courts.

Silverberg has remained active in professional associations. He holds memberships in the American Bar Association, the Westchester County Bar Association and the New York State Bar. Those affiliations have kept him connected to developments in procedural rules and substantive law across the state and nation.

At Silverberg Zalantis LLC he serves as of counsel, drawing on decades of courtroom experience to advise on litigation strategy and appellate matters. His current practice centers on litigation in both state and federal courts.
