About Steven M.

Steven M. Goldman completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona, earning a B.A. in 1995. He went on to law school at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School and received his J.D. in 1998, where his coursework concentrated on criminal law. Those years of study provided the foundation for the type of practice he would build in the years that followed.

He is admitted to practice in Illinois. After entering the bar, he established Goldman & Associates and serves as the firm’s owner. Over time he has taken on both management responsibilities and direct client work, overseeing the firm’s operations while remaining involved in case handling.

Goldman’s legal training in criminal law informs the matters he handles. His background in that area is reflected in the types of cases the firm accepts and the strategy he applies to client representation. He balances courtroom work and case preparation, and he manages a caseload that includes trial-level matters.

He maintains memberships in several professional organizations, including the Illinois State Bar Association, CBA and the Lake County Bar Association. Those affiliations keep him connected to developments in state law and to colleagues across practice areas. He participates in professional meetings and uses those forums to stay current on procedural and substantive changes that affect criminal practice in Illinois.

As owner of Goldman & Associates, he handles both the business side of running a small firm and the legal side of representing clients. That dual role means supervising support staff, directing case strategy, and ensuring clients receive timely responses. The office structure allows him to make staffing decisions and set priorities for case intake and litigation work.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in case preparation and straightforward in client communications. He approaches new matters by reviewing the facts closely, assessing options, and explaining likely paths forward to clients so they can make informed decisions. He also prepares matters for court, coordinating evidence and witnesses as needed.

He currently practices at Goldman & Associates. His practice concentrates on criminal defense and related matters.
