Steven M. Chanley is an employment attorney with over 30 years of experience, specializing in representing and advising employers in various labor and employment law matters. Chanley earned his Bachelor of Arts in English, cum laude, from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 1985. He later obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco in 1989. During his time in law school, he was a member of the Hastings Moot Court Board and received two American Jurisprudence awards for academic excellence in Labor Law.
His practice areas include wage and hour litigation, discrimination and harassment defense, wrongful discharge defense, trade secrets litigation, whistleblower claims, employee misclassification issues, and employer advice and counsel. He also provides executive personal attorney services, conducts internal investigations, and handles appeals. Chanley is experienced in various legal stages, including litigation, negotiations, trials, appeals, and internal investigations.
Before founding Employer Advocates Group LC in 2002, Chanley gained experience at several law firms, including Morrison & Foerster LLP, Littler, Mendelson, Fastiff & Tichy, and Sinsheimer, Schiebelhut & Baggett. He has served as a Contributing Editor for "The Developing Labor Law," a leading treatise on labor-management relations under the National Labor Relations Act.
