About Steven Keith

Steven Keith Berenson is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in California, Florida, and Massachusetts. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 2001, the Florida Bar in 1999, and the Massachusetts Bar in 1989. His license status in all jurisdictions is active. Mr. Berenson is currently serving as an Administrative Law Judge with the California Department of Social Services in San Diego, California.

Mr. Berenson earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) and Master of Laws (LL.M.) degrees from Harvard Law School in 1989 and 1998, respectively. Prior to his legal education, he completed his undergraduate studies at Franklin & Marshall College, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in 1985. During his time at Harvard, he was involved in various academic and extracurricular activities, furthering his expertise in legal studies.

Mr. Berenson's practice areas encompass family law, legal ethics, and professional responsibility. Throughout his career, Mr. Berenson has held several notable positions. He served as Senior Counsel at Klinedinst PC in San Diego from 2020 to 2021, where he focused on professional liability defense. Prior to that, he was an attorney at Antonyan Miranda, LLP in 2019 and operated his own law office from 2019 to 2020. From 2002 to 2019, he was a Professor of Law at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, teaching courses such as Family Law, Legal Ethics, and Legal Research and Writing. He also founded and directed the Thomas Jefferson Veterans Legal Assistance Clinic, providing pro bono legal services to veterans. Additionally, he worked as an Assistant Attorney General with the Office of the Massachusetts Attorney General from 1990 to 1995, handling administrative, constitutional, and consumer protection litigation.

Mr. Berenson is an active member of the California State Bar, Florida Bar, and Massachusetts Bar. He has contributed to the legal community through his teaching roles and involvement in various legal organizations. He is also a volunteer fee dispute arbitrator for both the San Diego County and California Bar Associations’ voluntary fee dispute arbitration programs. He serves as a Pro Tem Judge in the Small Claims and Traffic Divisions of the San Diego Superior Court and is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association’s Legal Ethics Committee. Mr. Berenson is fluent in English, enabling him to effectively serve a diverse clientele.
