Mr. Sweeney earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law in 1996. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at Loyola Marymount University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in 1996. Additionally, he obtained a Master of Arts degree from the University of Chicago in 1991.
Mr. Sweeney concentrates his practice in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, banking and financial institution regulatory matters, technology law, corporate finance, corporate governance, and loan and credit transactions. He has extensive experience in a broad range of corporate transactions, with a focus on banking and financial institutions. He also represents clients in the technology and media industries, as well as healthcare, consumer products, and real estate sectors. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to joining Duane Morris LLP, he worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in Century City for five years.
Mr. Sweeney is an active member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the California State Bar Association. He holds membership in the American Bar Association Section of Litigation. He is also a certified mediator through the Los Angeles County Superior Court mediation program.
