About Steven
Steven Basche began his legal career after earning a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1986. He completed his undergraduate studies in political science at the University of Connecticut in 1983. Those early academic years set the foundation for a practice that has spanned state and federal forums.
He entered private practice soon after law school, joining Schatz & Schatz, Ribicoff & Kotkin as an associate in 1986. He moved to Cohn & Birnbaum in 1989 and became a partner at Jacobs, Walker, Rice & Basche, LLC in 1991. In 2008 he returned to solo practice as principal of the Law Offices of Steven M. Basche, LLC. He later joined other firms, serving as a partner at Hassett & Geoge, PC beginning in 2016 and at Brown, Paindiris & Scott, LLP in 2022. In 2023 he resumed his role as principal of the Law Offices of Steven M. Basche, LLC.
Basche is admitted to practice in Connecticut and in the federal courts that serve the state. His federal admissions include the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and the Second Circuit. He has maintained membership in the Connecticut Bar Association since 1986 and is active in local bar circles through the Manchester Bar Association. He also holds membership in the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, an affiliation that aligns him with practitioners who handle legal issues affecting older adults.
Colleagues and clients have come to know him for steady courtroom presence and an approach that emphasizes clear preparation. He has navigated matters in both trial and appellate settings, relying on procedural familiarity and long-term experience in Connecticut courts. His practice history shows shifts between firm partnerships and solo work, an arc that reflects both collaboration with other lawyers and an ongoing independent practice.
Outside the courtroom, his bar association memberships have kept him connected to developments in state law and practice. He has remained based in Connecticut throughout his career and has routinely handled filings and appearances in the federal district and circuit courts that cover the state.
He currently practices at the Law Offices of Steven M. Basche, LLC. His work centers on matters in Connecticut and federal courts and includes elder-law-related cases, as reflected by his membership in the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
