About Steven A.
Steven A. Jayson built his legal foundation at Montclair State University, where he earned a B.A. in history in 2004. He continued his studies at Pennsylvania State University’s Dickinson School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2007. Those years shaped an interest in transactional work and public law, which resurfaced later in his career.
After law school Jayson entered a mix of public interest and private practice roles. In 2010 he was a fellow at the Center for the Study of Mergers and Acquisitions, a position that exposed him to deal analysis and corporate transaction issues. He worked as a contract lawyer for Hire Counsel in 2011. The following year he became the managing lawyer at The Jayson Law Group LLC, an early leadership role that placed him on both sides of firm management and client representation.
Jayson moved back into more traditional firm settings after his time running his own practice. He served as an associate lawyer at The Law Offices of Alan R. Ackerman beginning in 2015. In 2020 he joined Mellinger Kartzman LLC as a senior associate. Those moves trace a career that alternates between independent practice and larger firm environments, giving him experience in different organizational settings and client types.
He is a member of both the New Jersey and New York state bar associations, holding memberships in each since 2011. He has been involved with the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Benchmarks on Civics as a speaker since 2013, appearing on panels that address the intersection of law and civic institutions. His cross-state admissions allow him to handle matters that cross the New Jersey–New York boundary.
Today Jayson practices at Mellinger Kartzman LLC. His background includes a 2010 fellowship at the Center for the Study of Mergers and Acquisitions, and his practice reflects that experience alongside general civil and transactional work in New Jersey and New York. He maintains active memberships in both state bar associations and continues to participate in bar programming and presentations.
