About Steven A.

Steven A. Anderson earned his J.D. from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1983. He moved into litigation work soon after graduation and built a practice rooted in courtroom proceedings. Over the decades he has continued to practice law, returning regularly to trial work rather than limiting himself to transactional matters.

Anderson holds a Certified Civil Trial Specialist designation from the Minnesota State Bar Association. That certification is awarded to lawyers who meet specific experience and testing standards and who demonstrate proficiency in civil trial practice. For an attorney, it signals a formal recognition of trial experience and peer-reviewed competence rather than a casual interest in litigation.

Throughout his career Anderson has concentrated on civil trial litigation. He has handled jury and non-jury matters and has worked on both the pretrial and trial phases of cases. He focuses on preparation for trial, developing case theory, and courtroom advocacy. His work requires attention to procedural detail, witness preparation, and persuasive presentation of evidence to judges and juries.

Colleagues and clients have noted his steady presence at trial calendars and his willingness to take cases to verdict when settlement does not resolve the dispute. He has served as lead trial counsel in matters that proceeded to jury trial, and he has also taken cases through dispositive motions, appeals, and negotiated resolutions. That breadth of trial work underlies the certification from the state bar and informs his everyday practice choices.

Outside of the courtroom, Anderson’s legal education at the University of North Dakota provided a foundation in civil procedure and trial advocacy that he built on in practice. He has kept up with developments in civil litigation and the rules that shape trial practice. He often prepares detailed trial notebooks and focuses on logistical planning to ensure evidence and testimony are presented clearly.

As of 2026 Anderson remains an active civil trial lawyer. He continues to accept and try civil litigation matters and to represent clients in contested proceedings, concentrating his current practice on civil trial representation.
