About Steve
Steve Bailey combines formal training in accounting and taxation with decades of legal experience. He holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Tennessee, a Master of Science in taxation from Georgia State University, a Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law and an LL.M. in Tax Law from the University of Alabama School of Law. The sequence of degrees reflects a career built on tax and finance before the transition into estate and elder law.
Bailey is admitted to practice in California and Alabama and has maintained active membership in the California State Bar since 1990. He is also a Certified Public Accountant through the American Institute of CPAs, a credential that informs his work on tax-sensitive estate matters. His combination of accounting credentials and advanced tax study shapes how he approaches planning for wealth transfer, trusts and probate administration.
Over the years Bailey has taken roles in practice networks and professional groups that serve estate planners and elder law attorneys. He is a charter member of ElderCounsel and served as a founding member of WealthCounsel from 2000 until 2015. Those affiliations have kept him connected to changing practice trends, form drafting, and collaborative problem solving among lawyers who handle complex family and asset preservation issues.
His practice centers on estate planning, trust and probate law and elder law. He holds certification in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law from the California State Bar and a related estate planning certification from the Alabama State Bar. Those credentials reflect both courtroom and transactional work: drafting plans, advising fiduciaries and assisting families through probate proceedings. Tax considerations recur in many of his client matters, and his graduate study in taxation and LL.M. training provide an added layer of technical familiarity.
Bailey runs the Elder Law Office of Steve Bailey. He works with individuals and families on planning documents, trust administration and probate matters that touch on taxation and long-term care concerns. The office offers services aimed at managing the legal and financial questions that arise as people and families plan for aging, incapacity and wealth transition. His current practice concentrates on estate planning, elder law, trust administration and tax-related issues.
