About Stephen W.

Stephen W. Williams built a layered academic foundation before he entered the courtroom. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Guitar Performance from Birmingham-Southern College in 2006. He then completed both a Juris Doctor and an MBA at the University of Alabama, finishing those programs in 2010. The combined training in law and business informs how he approaches client problems and case strategy.

After law school, Williams joined Long, Flanagan & McDonald, LLC as an associate in 2011. He spent his early years learning courtroom procedure and civil practice management. The role gave him steady exposure to contested family matters and motions practice. It also offered time to develop trial preparation skills and to work directly with clients during difficult transitions.

In 2015 he became managing partner at Foxtrot Family Law. As managing partner he handles administrative responsibilities while continuing an active case load. His courtroom work includes divorce proceedings, child custody and visitation disputes, spousal support matters, and related family-law litigation. He is also certified as a Guardian ad Litem by the Alabama Administrative Office of Courts and has served in that capacity in custody and guardianship proceedings.

Williams is admitted to practice in Alabama and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. That dual admission enables him to represent clients in state family courts and to handle federal appellate matters when they arise from the Eleventh Circuit. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing filings and deliberate in courtroom pacing; clients see a lawyer who explains options plainly and sets pragmatic expectations.

Outside the office he has applied his musical training to community events and local programs, though he keeps a low public profile. His combined background in business and law shapes how he staffs cases and allocates resources in complex family disputes. He continues to maintain active litigation and alternative dispute resolution work at Foxtrot Family Law.

He currently practices at Foxtrot Family Law where his work centers on family law litigation, child-custody proceedings, guardianship matters, and Guardian ad Litem assignments.
