About Stephen
Stephen Johnston earned his J.D. from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 2002. He completed his legal education after several years of study and entered practice in the early 2000s. Johnston joined the State Bar of Colorado the same year and has maintained his membership since then.
Johnston's early work placed him inside both public and private legal settings. Records show he served as an Assistant County Lawyer at the Albany County Lawyer's Office in 2001. He then moved into private practice as an associate at Koncilja and Koncilja in 2002. Later, in 2008, he worked as an associate at Hassler Law Office, LLC, gaining additional experience in firm-based practice.
Over time Johnston took on roles that crossed the bench and the bar. In 2023 he became a managing member of Johnston Law Office, LLC. That same year he accepted an appointment as a municipal court judge for the City of Fowler. The two positions place him in both advocacy and adjudication within Colorado’s local legal landscape.
His professional record reflects work in county legal matters, service as an associate in private firms and duties as a municipal court judge. Those roles have given him practical familiarity with municipal proceedings and the kinds of issues that arise for local governments and their residents. He remains a current member of the State Bar of Colorado and participates in the bar’s activities.
Today Johnston splits his time between running Johnston Law Office, LLC and serving on the municipal bench in Fowler. He handles legal matters for clients in Colorado while carrying out judicial responsibilities at the municipal level. His current practice includes representation and judicial service related to municipal and county matters in Colorado.
