About Stephen
Stephen Jackson earned his J.D. from the UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law in 2014 after completing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2012. He moved from academic study to courtroom work quickly. His legal education provided training in criminal procedure, trial advocacy and evidence. Those areas would shape his early career.
He began his public defense work in Whatcom County, Washington. In 2014 he served as Senior Deputy Public Defender at the Whatcom County Public Defender’s Office. In that role he handled misdemeanor and felony matters, appeared in state trial courts and worked on pretrial investigations. The position placed him in daily contact with judges, prosecutors and clients, and developed his courtroom experience in client representation and case management.
Jackson is admitted to practice in Washington and is a member of the Washington State Bar Association. He also holds admission to the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington. Those admissions allow him to represent clients at both the state and federal trial levels in Washington. He has experience managing case filings, motions practice and hearings across those forums.
Over time Jackson shifted from public defense into private practice. He founded Stephen Jackson Law, PLLC, where he handles criminal defense matters and related litigation. His practice reflects the work he did as a deputy public defender: arraignments, pretrial motions, suppression hearings and jury trials. He represents clients at all stages of criminal proceedings, focusing on case assessment, evidence review and courtroom advocacy.
Clients and colleagues describe Jackson as pragmatic and straightforward in court. He tends to favor careful preparation and clear argument over grandstanding. He has navigated a range of criminal matters and remains active in court dockets throughout Western Washington. Outside the courtroom, he maintains the procedural and substantive legal knowledge necessary for both trial work and federal filings.
Today Jackson practices from Stephen Jackson Law, PLLC. He takes cases in state and federal courts in Washington and continues to handle criminal defense and related litigation work as his current practice focus.
