About Stephanie M.

Stephanie M. Skeen graduated from Whittier Law School, earning her J.D. in 2012 after concentrating on criminal law and trial and appellate practice. Her coursework and clinic work at Whittier placed courtroom procedure and appellate briefing at the center of her legal training. Early exposure to criminal procedure shaped her approach to cases and courtroom preparation.

Her professional career began in state service. In 2013 she worked for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, where she handled legal matters arising from the prison system. The experience gave her contact with both institutional procedures and the litigation that follows administrative decisions. In 2014 she moved to the Lassen County Office of County Counsel as a deputy county counsel, taking on civil matters for local government and advising officials on municipal legal issues.

By 2016 Skeen had shifted roles to the Lassen County District Attorney's Office, serving as a deputy district attorney. That post returned her to criminal work, this time on the prosecution side. She handled preliminary hearings, motion practice, and courtroom proceedings while building experience in trial preparation and witness work. The series of county roles gave her a broad view of public-sector legal practice, spanning corrections, civil counsel, and prosecution.

In 2020 she launched her own practice, The Law Office of Stephanie Skeen. As the firm's founder and owner, she manages both the legal work and the day-to-day operations. Her background in trial and appellate practice informs the decisions she makes in case strategy and court filings. Running a small office also means she handles client intake, case management, and direct advocacy personally.

Skeen is licensed to practice in California. Her work history ties together criminal law, government counsel duties, and courtroom litigation. She brings experience from state agencies and county offices into private practice, applying procedural knowledge from those roles to civil and criminal matters she now accepts.

Clients and colleagues describe her courtroom manner as direct and methodical. She favors careful preparation for hearings and trials and prioritizes clear written work for motions and appeals. In private practice she continues to draw on her trial training and appellate coursework from law school.

She maintains an active practice through The Law Office of Stephanie Skeen in California, handling litigation and courtroom matters that reflect her background in criminal and trial work.
