About Stephanie
Stephanie Goldsborough earned a B.A. in English from Salem College in 1999 and went on to receive her J.D. from Campbell Law School in 2002. She entered the legal field at a time when public interest work drew many newly minted lawyers, and she moved quickly into direct client representation.
Her early work began in 2003 at the Legal Aid Society and Legal Aid of North Carolina, where she handled domestic violence matters. Those cases required fast thinking in high-pressure situations. They also offered steady courtroom exposure and contact with vulnerable clients.
In 2011 she joined the Forsyth County Public Defender’s Office as an assistant public defender. There she carried a heavy caseload of criminal matters. She argued motions, tried cases to jury, and worked on appeals. The public defender role sharpened trial instincts and toughened courtroom skills.
By 2015 Goldsborough was a trial lawyer and managing lawyer at Dummit Fradin. Her responsibilities expanded to include oversight of other lawyers while continuing to handle serious criminal trials. The combination of supervisory duties and active litigation gave her a broader view of case strategy and practice management.
In 2020 she moved to Garrett, Walker, Aycoth & Altamura as a trial lawyer. The firm setting provided a platform for high-stakes litigation and multi-attorney coordination. She continued to take cases to trial and to prepare complex litigation for jury proceedings.
Throughout her career she has worked primarily in criminal defense and related trial work, including cases involving domestic violence and public defense matters. Her courtroom record reflects years of handling contested hearings and jury trials. Colleagues and adversaries often note her direct manner and preference for preparation over spectacle.
Goldsborough maintains an active membership in the North Carolina State Bar. She keeps current on criminal procedure and trial practice developments relevant to her caseload.
She now practices at Garrett, Walker, Aycoth & Altamura LLP, where she handles trial litigation and criminal defense matters.
