About Stephanie E.W.
Stephanie E.W. Thompson is a Senior Litigation Counsel at Starn O’Toole Marcus & Fisher in Honolulu, Hawaii. She has been practicing law in Hawaii since 2005, focusing on commercial and real estate civil litigation, as well as e-discovery. After earning her J.D. from the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii in 2005, she clerked for the Honorable Victoria S. Marks at the Circuit Court of the First Circuit, State of Hawaii.
She joined Starn O’Toole Marcus & Fisher in 2006. In her practice, Ms. Thompson has handled a variety of cases, including employment contract disputes, construction and environmental issues, trust and estate matters, fraudulent transfers of land, and wrongful death claims. She has been recognized by Martindale-Hubbell® with an AV Preeminent® rating, the highest possible, reflecting her peers' esteem for her legal skills and integrity. She has also been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® in the areas of Appellate Practice, Commercial Litigation, Electronic Discovery and Information Management Law, and Real Estate Litigation. Additionally, she has been named to the Hawaii Super Lawyers® list since 2021 in the practice area of business litigation. Ms.
Thompson has been actively involved in the Hawaii State Bar Association (HSBA). She served as the Litigation Section Chair in 2015 and was a board member from 2011 through 2016. Since 2014, she has co-chaired the HSBA’s Litigation Academy, a two-day intensive course on litigation practice. Her contributions to the legal community have been recognized by Chambers and Partners USA Leading Lawyers for Business in the practice area of Litigation: General Commercial. In addition to her litigation practice, Ms. Thompson has developed and presented workshops on e-discovery for small businesses and ethical considerations related to e-discovery for attorneys. She has been a guest speaker at various civic organizations and has presented on this topic for bar organizations both within Hawaii and nationally.
She has also appeared on radio programs, including Hawaii Public Radio's "The Conversation," discussing e-discovery issues related to "Bring Your Own Device" policies. Ms. Thompson is a member of the American Bar Association and the American Inns of Court. She is fluent in English and French.
