About Stephanie C.
Stephanie C. Hunnell earned her J.D. from Rutgers School of Law–Camden in 2004. She came out of law school into New Jersey’s legal community at a time when many of the state’s professional networks were expanding. Early on she made professional engagement a priority alongside her legal work.
Her involvement in bar organizations began in 2004. She has been an active member of the New Jersey State Bar Association since that year and also joined the Monmouth Bar Association. That participation has provided a steady platform for professional development. It has also connected her to colleagues across practice areas and regions of the state.
In 2013 she took on a formal leadership role as chair of the LGBT Rights Section of the State Bar of New Jersey. In that year she led the section through its calendar of activities and represented it within the wider association. The position placed her at the intersection of law, policy discussion and the bar’s work on issues affecting LGBT individuals and families.
Across her career she has balanced association leadership with private practice. She practices at Hunnell Law Group, LLC. Colleagues describe her approach as practical and deliberate. She has maintained steady local ties through the Monmouth Bar Association while engaging on statewide issues through the New Jersey State Bar Association.
Hunnell’s background in the LGBT Rights Section shows in the contours of her public work. She has participated in the bar’s conversations about rights, access and professional responsibility. Those activities reflect ongoing engagement rather than a single episode of service. They also reflect the habits of a lawyer who mixes client work with service to the profession.
She continues to practice at Hunnell Law Group, LLC, where her current practice centers on LGBT rights and related civil matters.
