Sonja Roxanne Porter was a prominent criminal defense attorney specializing in DUI and DWI cases in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Born on March 22, 1972, in Kingsport, Tennessee, she dedicated her life to the legal profession and her community. After earning her Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 1999, she was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar Association the same year. Her commitment to justice extended beyond state lines, as she also gained admission to the U.S. Supreme Court. Porter's legal career began as an Assistant District Attorney in Oklahoma County, where she developed her skills in the courtroom.

In 2002, she transitioned to a DUI defense firm as an associate attorney, marking the start of her specialization in DUI and DWI cases. This role allowed her to develop a robust understanding of the intricacies involved in these legal matters. By October 2011, she took a significant step in her career by establishing her own solo practice in Oklahoma City, where she focused primarily on DUI defense and expungements. Porter was deeply committed to her professional development and the legal community. Her dedication to education extended to her volunteer work as a moot court judge for Oklahoma City University School of Law since 2000 and for the University of Oklahoma since 2010. Additionally, she served as a panel judge for the Oklahoma High School Mock Trial Program since 2006, fostering the next generation of legal minds. Her involvement in professional organizations was notable. From 2010 to 2013, she served on the Oklahoma Bar Association Women in Law Committee and held the position of secretary for the OBA Solo and Small Firm Section from 2013 to 2014. As a member of both the Oklahoma County Bar Association and the Oklahoma Bar Association, she was recognized with the Thurgood Marshall Appellate Award from the Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, evidence of her dedication and effectiveness as a defense attorney. Outside of her legal career, Porter was known affectionately as "The DUI Diva" for her expertise in DUI defense.

She was also active in her church, Harvest Hills Baptist Church, where she taught children and coached volleyball and basketball. An accomplished martial artist, she earned her 1st Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and studied the Korean language. Sonja Porter passed away on June 18, 2020, after a long battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy as an amazing wife, mother, advocate, teacher, and friend. Her contributions to the legal field and her community will be remembered by many.
