About Sofia

Sofia Zneimer began her academic journey overseas before finishing legal training in the United States. She earned both a B.A. and an M.A. in English Language and Literature from Sofia University Climent Ohridsky, then returned to the U.S. to complete a J.D. at Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2003. Her education combined humanities study and professional legal training, an uncommon mix that informs how she prepares and presents cases.

She is admitted to practice in Illinois and holds several federal admissions. Those include the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the Federal Trial Bar, the Seventh Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Early recognition of academic performance is reflected by her membership in the Order of the Coif.

Zneimer has spent her career at Zneimer & Zneimer, P.C., where she serves as a partner. Her role at the firm has involved courtroom work and alternative dispute resolution. She is a Certified Mediator through the Center for Conflict Resolution and regularly participates in mediations as part of the firm’s caseload.

Her courtroom credentials extend from trial to appellate levels. Membership in the Federal Trial Bar signals repeated experience handling federal trials, and admission to the Seventh Circuit and the Supreme Court allows her to pursue appeals when cases move beyond the trial court. Colleagues and clients see her work rooted in preparation: document review, witness preparation and courtroom presentation form the practical backbone of her practice.

Zneimer maintains memberships in a broad set of professional organizations. She is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar. Those affiliations reflect a professional life that blends trial practice, litigation strategy and interest in immigration issues, among other areas.

Her education and licensure give her a cross-border perspective rare among local practitioners. She combines litigation in federal and state courts with mediation in an effort to resolve disputes efficiently when settlement is appropriate. She currently practices at Zneimer & Zneimer, P.C., handling litigation and mediation in federal and state courts.
