About Simon J.
Simon J. Lebo built a steadier kind of career. He arrived at Dickinson College in the late 1980s and left in 1992 with a B.A. that combined political science, history and economics. He stayed in Pennsylvania for law school and earned his J.D. from Pennsylvania State University’s Dickinson School of Law in 1996.
His practical legal training began while he was still in law school. In 1995 he worked as a legal intern for the Pennsylvania State Employees Retirement Board. That early exposure to public-sector pensions and administrative systems fed into the kind of work he would take on later.
Soon after graduation he moved into private practice. By 1999 he was a capital partner at Brown, Paindiris & Scott, LLP. Over the years he has taken on leadership roles inside the firm. In 2016 he became chair of the BPS Trusts & Estates Department, a role he continues to hold. The position has him overseeing case handling and departmental administration, and it places him at the center of the firm’s estate-planning and fiduciary work.
Lebo’s memberships reflect his professional interests. He has been part of the Connecticut Bar Association since 1999. He joined a committee of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys in 2008. Since 2017 he has been a member of the Hartford Estate and Business Planning Council. Those affiliations keep him engaged with the evolving rules that affect estates, trusts and elder law.
He is licensed to practice in Connecticut and is admitted to appear before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. His practice has a steady emphasis on the legal issues that arise in later life: estate planning, probate matters, trust administration and related litigation when disputes occur. He has handled matters that require coordination among family members, financial institutions and court-appointed fiduciaries.
Colleagues describe him as methodical and attentive to procedural detail. He balances firm leadership duties with client work and with the administrative tasks that come with running a trusts and estates group. He is part of a practice that deals with both transactional planning and contested proceedings.
He practices at Brown, Paindiris & Scott, LLP where he chairs the Trusts & Estates Department and maintains a practice handling estate planning, probate and trust administration.
