About Shiloh A.
Shiloh A. Daum built her legal foundation at the University of North Carolina. She earned a B.A. from UNC–Chapel Hill in 1996 and graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2001, completing a litigation emphasis during her studies.
Her time in law school trained her for courtroom work and the demands of civil litigation. That training shaped the early arc of her career. She developed familiarity with trial procedures, discovery tactics and the drafting of pleadings while moving into practice after graduation.
Daum has been involved with the North Carolina Advocates for Justice for many years. She is a member of the organization’s Eminent Domain Section and has held that membership since 2004. The section brings together lawyers who handle property takings, land valuation and related litigation, and her long-standing participation places her among peers who litigate similar matters.
She serves as a lawyer at Sever Storey, LLP, Lawyers for Landowners. The firm represents property owners in eminent domain proceedings and related property disputes. At Sever Storey, she works on cases that require negotiating with condemning authorities, preparing valuation evidence and arguing for fair compensation on behalf of landowners.
Her practice draws on courtroom training and a steady engagement with eminent domain issues. She prepares appraisals and expert testimony. She files and responds to pleadings. She also handles hearings and trials when settlements do not resolve disputes. Her work requires balancing legal strategy with practical concerns about land use and value.
Outside the courtroom, Daum’s association work keeps her connected to continuing developments in takings law and valuation methods. That involvement helps her monitor shifts in state and local practice that affect compensation and the litigation process.
Clients and colleagues describe her approach as methodical. She tends to prioritize clear case theory and careful preparation. She monitors key factual details and organizes evidence to support claims about market value and other damages.
She remains an active member of the NC Advocates for Justice Eminent Domain Section and continues to handle property and eminent domain matters at Sever Storey, LLP, Lawyers for Landowners.
