About Sheryl

Sheryl Hurst earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 2007. She completed her legal education in Tennessee and moved into practice in the state after graduation. Her academic years included the standard array of coursework and clinic experiences that prepare new lawyers for practice, and she has maintained ties to the Tennessee legal community since then.

Early in her career Hurst began working in immigration law. She has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association since 2011, and that affiliation has shaped much of her professional network and continuing legal education. Hurst is licensed to practice in Tennessee and has spent the bulk of her career handling matters arising under federal immigration statutes and regulations.

Her practice centers on immigration law. She advises individuals and families about eligibility for immigration benefits and various forms of relief. Hurst routinely interprets complex rules and eligibility requirements, explains options to clients, and helps assemble the documentation agencies require. Her work involves administrative submissions and client counseling on compliance with immigration procedures.

Beyond paperwork and filings, Hurst engages with changing federal policies and guidance that affect clients’ cases. Immigration law can shift quickly when federal agencies or courts issue new rules. She monitors those developments to ensure client advice reflects current standards. She also draws on her AILA membership for training and professional discussion about best practices and recent developments.

Hurst practices from Hurst Immigration, PLLC. Her office serves individuals navigating family-based petitions, employment-related matters, naturalization pathways and other immigration processes. She works directly with clients to map realistic timelines and next steps. Colleagues describe her as thorough in case preparation and persistent in pursuing appropriate relief.

In her current practice she continues to represent clients on a range of immigration issues at Hurst Immigration, PLLC and to participate in professional forums that inform immigration practice in Tennessee and beyond.
