About Sherry
Sherry Cross earned her J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law. She completed her legal education before launching into public service and then private practice. Her training at Maine provided the foundation for work that would span two states and both public and private roles.
Her early career included a position as an assistant lawyer at the Miami-Dade Public Defender's Office in 2001. That role exposed her to courtroom work and client advocacy at an early stage. She later worked as a lawyer at CDA in 2005, a position tied to her California bar activity. She is licensed to practice in Florida and California and has maintained active professional memberships over many years.
Cross has been a member of several bar and defense organizations. She joined the Miami-Dade County Bar Association in 1999. She became a member of the Florida State Bar in 2003 and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 2006. Since 2010 she has held membership in the Criminal Courts Bar Association. Those memberships reflect sustained engagement with professional peers and ongoing contact with developments in criminal practice.
Her courtroom work has been grounded in criminal defense, and she has drawn on trial experience from her time in public defense and private practice. She has represented clients at various stages of criminal proceedings. Her background includes client interviewing, motion practice, plea negotiations and trial work. Colleagues describe her as thorough in preparation and pragmatic in strategy. She combines courtroom experience gained in Florida with licensing that allows her to handle matters in California when appropriate.
Today she operates out of The Cross Law Office. The firm handles criminal matters across jurisdictions where she is licensed. She balances casework with continued involvement in professional associations and stays current on criminal law developments. She concentrates her practice on criminal defense in Florida and California.
