About Sherry
Sherry Cohen is an associate attorney at Kotlar, Hernandez & Cohen, located in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. With over 40 years of legal experience, she has established herself as a dedicated advocate in the field of personal injury law. Since joining the firm in 2013, Sherry has taken the lead in their pre-litigation personal injury department, where she utilizes her extensive knowledge to guide clients through the details of their cases. Her commitment to client welfare and her approach have made her a valuable asset to the firm. Before her tenure at Kotlar, Hernandez & Cohen, Sherry operated her own law practice for nearly two decades.
During this time, she specialized in both family law and personal injury matters, gaining a wealth of practical experience that she brings to her current role. This dual focus allowed her to develop a knowledge of the legal field, equipping her to handle a diverse range of cases effectively. Her experience in family law has also provided her with unique insights into the emotional aspects of legal disputes, which she skillfully navigates on behalf of her clients. Sherry began her legal career as a law clerk in Burlington County's Superior Court, where she worked from 1979 to 1981. In this role, she gained inexperience in both the Law Division and the Chancery Division Family Part.
This foundational experience helped shape her understanding of the judicial process and developed her legal skills. Following her clerkship, she earned her Juris Doctor from Temple University Beasley School of Law in 1979. Prior to that, she obtained her Bachelor of Arts from Pennsylvania State University in 1976, before her legal education. Admitted to practice in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Sherry is an active member of the Camden County Bar Association and the Burlington County Bar Association. Her involvement in these professional organizations allows her to stay current with legal developments and network with fellow attorneys.
This engagement supports her the legal profession and her dedication to providing the best possible representation for her clients. On a personal note, Sherry is married to Mitch Cohen, who serves as Of Counsel at the firm. Together, they have raised three children, all of whom are attorneys. Their son, Justin Cohen, is a partner at Kotlar, Hernandez & Cohen, while their daughter, Ali Cohen, is an associate at the same firm. This family legacy in law underscores their shared commitment to justice and advocacy, further enriching Sherry's professional journey.
