About Shelley
Shelley Peters entered the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law in 1999 and earned her J.D. in 2002. She completed her legal education at a time when the practice of law in Missouri was shifting on several fronts. The degree set the course for a steady career based in the state courts where she has remained active since the early 2000s.
Peters began practising at Peters & Peters PC in 2002. That year marked her first professional role at the firm, where she assumed responsibilities as a lawyer. Over the years she has worked through the day-to-day demands of a small-firm practice. She has handled filings, client meetings, and court appearances in venues across Missouri.
Her work has been practical and case-driven. She handles courtroom representation and prepares legal documents for matters governed by Missouri law. She also spends time advising clients on procedural and compliance questions that arise as cases develop. Peters’s approach is to prioritize clear communication and practical options for resolving disputes, whether through negotiated settlements or litigation.
Colleagues describe her as steady and responsive. She tends to take on matters that require patience and attention to detail. That steadiness shows in routine tasks as well as in more contested matters that reach the courthouse. Peters aims to keep clients informed and to present the legal choices that make sense given timelines and costs.
Outside the courtroom, she has remained engaged with the professional demands of keeping current. Practicing law in a single state jurisdiction for more than two decades has required adapting to changes in local rules and case law. Peters has navigated those shifts while maintaining a consistent practice at Peters & Peters PC.
Today she remains in Missouri and continues to practice at Peters & Peters PC. Her current practice concentrates on representing clients in matters under Missouri law and providing counsel on procedural and case-management issues in state court proceedings.
