About Shefali
Shefali Lakhani graduated from Boston University School of Law. Her legal education provided a foundation in litigation practice and firm-based client work. She moved into private practice soon after completing her degree, joining a sequence of New York firms where she worked as an associate.
Her early career began in 2016 at Kirby McInerney, where she served as an associate. The following year she continued in associate roles at The Giannuzzi Group. In 2018 she joined Morris Manning & Martin as an associate. Those positions, taken in succession, make up a steady progression through firm practice and day-to-day case work.
Lakhani is admitted to practice in New York. Across her years as an associate she handled a mix of research, drafting, and client-facing responsibilities. Colleagues and supervisors entrusted her with motion practice, discovery management, and the preparation of court filings. That hands-on work shaped the skills she now brings to her own practice.
In 2024 she launched Lakhani Legal and took on the role of founder and managing lawyer. Establishing a firm required shifting from the associate model to running operations, managing client relationships, and directing case strategy. She has described the transition as a move into practice management and direct client representation.
Her background at multiple firms gave her exposure to the rhythms of litigation and the administrative demands of law practice. She learned to coordinate with co-counsel, manage tight deadlines, and prepare matters for hearing or settlement discussion. The variety of tasks typical in associate positions informed how she structures workflow now that she leads her own office.
Clients and peers who worked with her note a straightforward style and attention to detail in filings and correspondence. She has taken responsibility for shepherding matters through discovery and into pretrial phases when appropriate. She also continues to handle research and drafting on complex legal questions as part of her practice.
As of 2026 she leads Lakhani Legal in New York, where she oversees casework and the firm’s daily operations. Her current practice focuses on representing clients and providing counsel in matters brought in New York courts and before state agencies.
