About Shawnam
Shawnam Osman graduated from Northeastern University School of Law in 2019 after completing a Bachelor of Arts at Suffolk University in 2017. She entered the legal profession shortly after law school and has built a practice that draws on both her academic training and practical courtroom exposure. Her early years included intensive legal research and client representation under the supervision of more senior attorneys.
She serves as an associate lawyer at the Law Office of Johanna Herrero. In that role she has taken on client intake, drafted pleadings, and prepared forms and briefs for immigration proceedings. Her work includes direct client interviews and case management duties, along with appearing in administrative hearings when required. Colleagues describe her as methodical and attentive to procedural detail.
Membership in professional organizations has been part of her development. She holds current memberships in the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the State Bar of Massachusetts. Those affiliations provide access to continuing legal education, practice updates, and peer networks. Osman has participated in association programs that address changes in immigration policy and case law.
Her practice centers on immigration matters. That area includes petitions, relief applications, and representations before immigration agencies. She manages cases at different stages, from initial filings through adjudication, and works with clients from diverse backgrounds. Her daily work requires staying current on shifting regulations and interpreting guidance for specific client situations.
Osman’s legal education emphasized practical skills. At Northeastern she benefited from experiential learning opportunities that complemented classroom work. The combination of a local undergraduate education and a law degree from a regional law school has informed her approach to client service and community-based practice.
Outside the office she remains engaged with professional learning. Continuing education and membership activity shape how she handles new issues in immigration law. She splits her time between case preparation, client consultations, and the administrative responsibilities that come with a small-firm environment. She currently practices immigration law at the Law Office of Johanna Herrero.
