About Shawn
Shawn Leo pursued his legal education at California Western School of Law. He earned his law degree there and began building a career that would cross state lines. The classroom prepared him for the bar exams and for practice in three separate jurisdictions.
After law school, Leo's career moved between corporate finance and private practice. He held positions at large financial institutions, including HSBC Securities (USA) Inc. and BNY Mellon. Those roles exposed him to transactional work and regulatory issues inside major firms. He later worked for Goal Structured Solutions Inc., adding experience with structured finance and corporate operations. Along the way he established Leo Law Office, APLC, creating a vehicle for individual representation and advisory work.
Leo is admitted to practice in California, New Jersey and New York. He has maintained a professional membership since 2007. That span of time reflects continuity in practice and an ability to operate under differing state rules. Working across three bars has shaped how he approaches licensing questions, client intake and multi-jurisdictional matters.
Colleagues describe him as pragmatic. He tends to favor clear analysis over rhetoric. In corporate settings he handled documentation and compliance tasks that required attention to detail. In private practice he took on client counseling and case management. The mix of environments left him comfortable switching between transactional drafting and client-facing advocacy.
His work history shows movement between in-house roles and independent practice. In large institutions he was part of teams managing complex financial products and the legal frameworks around them. In his own firm he assumed responsibility for the full client lifecycle: intake, strategy, negotiation and resolution. Today he runs Leo Law Office, APLC while maintaining ties to the corporate sector. He divides his time between client matters and corporate engagements when they arise. He currently focuses his practice on representing clients across California, New Jersey and New York.
