About Shashi
Shashi Vijay earned a J.D. from Seattle University School of Law in 2005. The law school years laid a practical foundation. Coursework and clinics exposed Vijay to both client counseling and courtroom procedure.
Vijay began legal practice as a law clerk at Reed Longyear PLLC in 2006. In that role Vijay supported litigators and transactional attorneys through legal research, drafting and case preparation. The early experience provided steady exposure to pleadings, discovery and client intake work.
By 2009 Vijay moved into associate-level roles. That year Vijay served as an associate at Macey & Aleman and took on a concurrent position as a legal advisor to the UW Business Development Council. The associate position involved day-to-day client work in civil matters and transactional files. At the UW Business Development Council Vijay advised small business clients and entrepreneurs on legal and organizational issues.
Community work became part of Vijay’s practice in 2010. Vijay volunteered as a lawyer for home foreclosure legal aid and staffed neighborhood legal clinics. That volunteer work continued alongside membership in local professional groups. Vijay has been active with the Washington Association for Community Organizations since 2010, and also holds memberships in the King and Pierce County Bar Associations and the Washington State Association for Justice.
In 2010 Vijay founded VJ LAW FIRM PLLC and became principal lawyer and owner. Over time the firm developed a steady practice handling business, bankruptcy and real estate matters. Vijay’s work at the firm spans transactional assignments and contested matters. Clients have included small business owners, property buyers and sellers, and parties in financial restructurings.
Vijay approaches cases with an emphasis on practical solutions and clear communication. Written work such as contracts and pleadings sits alongside courtroom work and negotiation. The practice balances short-term problem solving and longer-term planning for clients’ commercial and property needs.
As of 2026 Vijay continues to practice through VJ LAW FIRM PLLC and handles matters in business law, bankruptcy proceedings and real estate law.
