About Sharon
Sharon Adams earned her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Davis in 1991. She completed law school at a time when technological change was reshaping patent practice. The degree set the stage for a career that would bridge technical and legal work.
After law school, Adams built a practice that centers on patent law. She became a registered patent attorney at the United States Patent & Trademark Office, allowing her to handle patent prosecution and related matters before the USPTO. Over time she expanded her credentials to include admission to the California bar and to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
In 1999 she founded Adams Law Office and has led the firm since then. As owner, she has overseen client matters, advised inventors and businesses, and managed the day-to-day operations of a small legal practice. The decision to found a firm reflected a move toward hands-on client counseling combined with direct oversight of patent filings and responses to the patent office.
Her work involves drafting patent applications, responding to office actions, and advising clients about patentability and prosecution strategy. Being registered with the USPTO allows her to represent inventors and companies through the patent application process. Admission to the California bar and the Ninth Circuit gives her access to both state-level practice and federal appellate procedures when needed.
Colleagues describe her approach as straightforward and detail-oriented. She has maintained professional memberships since 1991, participating in the broader legal community and staying current on changes to patent law and procedure. That ongoing engagement helps inform how she advises clients on patentability, claim scope, and prosecution tactics.
Over the years Adams has balanced the technical demands of patent drafting with the procedural requirements of patent prosecution. Her practice emphasizes clear written work, careful prosecution strategy, and practical advice about how patent protection fits into a client’s business plans. She continues to operate Adams Law Office, where she provides patent counseling, prepares and prosecutes patent applications, and represents clients before the USPTO.
Her current practice concentrates on patent preparation and prosecution and advising clients on intellectual property matters.
