About Shannon

Shannon McLin earned her J.D. at Pepperdine University School of Law. She arrived at legal training focused on argument and appellate procedure. Her academic record sits quietly in the background of a career built mostly in courtrooms above the trial level.

She began practicing appellate law in 1993. Over the years she has spent long hours drafting briefs and preparing for oral argument. That work has included briefing complex legal questions, preserving issues for appeal, and standing before panels of judges. Many of her cases turn on statutory interpretation, standards of review and the careful application of precedent.

Her credentials include admission to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the Florida bar and the Supreme Court of the United States. The Florida Bar has recognized her skill in appellate work by granting Board Certification in Appellate Practice. She keeps current with procedural shifts and case law developments that affect appellate advocacy.

Colleagues and opposing counsel describe her approach as methodical. She focuses on the architecture of an argument. She builds briefs that map legal issues and cite the record precisely. Oral advocacy in appellate settings is a regular part of her calendar and a setting where she tests legal theories under questioning from judges.

Her professional life has long centered on appellate practice. She has handled appeals that require careful record review and those that call for novel legal argument. She also consults on preservation strategies at the trial level, advising trial counsel on preserving points for potential appeal. That preventive work often shapes case strategy well before appeals are filed.

McLin practices through Florida Appeals. The firm provides representation in appellate courts and offers counsel on post-trial remedies. She participates in professional circles related to appellate law and has remained active in that community since the early 1990s. She continues to accept matters that raise significant legal questions and to represent clients in briefs and oral argument.

She currently practices appellate law at Florida Appeals.
