About Shannon M
Shannon M Polley earned her undergraduate degree in philosophy from Washington State University’s Pullman campus, completing her B.A. in 2011. She continued her education at the University of Colorado Law School, where she received her J.D. in 2018. Her academic path combined an interest in ethical reasoning and the practical skills of litigation preparation.
Polley began her career in public defense. In 2019 she joined the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender as a deputy state public defender. That role placed her in courtrooms across the state. She handled arraignments, wrote motions and represented clients at trial. The work required quick legal thinking and a steady approach to high-pressure situations.
After several years in the public system, Polley moved into private practice. In 2023 she took an associate position at Colorado Legal Defense Group. There she continued criminal defense work while gaining experience on the civil side of practice management. Case preparation, client counseling and coordinating with investigators became part of her daily routine. Her time at the firm reinforced courtroom skills cultivated at the public defender’s office.
In 2024 Polley joined Puget Law Group as an associate lawyer. The listing of multiple office entries reflects the firm’s presence rather than any change in her role. At Puget Law Group she has continued litigation work, representing clients in hearings and plea negotiations and preparing matters for trial when necessary. She also contributes to case strategy and works alongside colleagues on complex dockets.
Polley is licensed to practice in Colorado and maintains professional memberships. Colleagues describe her as methodical in case preparation and direct in court. She writes and argues motions, examines witnesses and meets clients where they are during difficult moments. Her background—philosophy for critical thinking and a law degree for technical work—shapes how she approaches each matter. She currently practices at Puget Law Group, concentrating on criminal defense and related litigation work.
