About Shannon
Shannon Cook built a practical legal foundation that begins with two degrees earned in 2010: a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Florida and a Juris Doctor from Stetson University. Her academic record paired a business perspective with legal training, a combination she carried into the federal courts early in her career.
While in law school and shortly after, she served as a federal judicial intern in two courts in the Middle District of Florida. She worked for the Honorable Thomas B. McCoun III in the United States District Court and for the Honorable Catherine Peek McEwen in the United States Bankruptcy Court. Those placements offered sustained exposure to federal civil dockets and bankruptcy proceedings. She spent time observing hearings, researching legal issues, and preparing draft memoranda for judicial review.
After her judicial internships, Cook moved into private practice on the defense side of workers’ compensation. She was an associate at a workers’ compensation insurance defense firm, where she handled claims for insurers and participated in hearings and negotiation of settlements. That role sharpened her courtroom experience and gave her recurring contact with the administrative and procedural aspects of Florida’s workers’ compensation system.
In 2015 she joined Morgan & Morgan as a lawyer. At that point her career included experience on both sides of the claims equation and a clear familiarity with litigation and administrative processes. She also maintained ties to the professional community through membership in the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Florida Bar, staying current on rule changes and section activities.
Peers and clients describe her work in straightforward terms: she applies litigation experience and federal court exposure to daily client matters. She is comfortable in administrative hearings and in drafting the motions and pleadings that underpin contested cases. Her training in business management informs how she approaches case strategy and resource allocation.
She practices in Florida and continues at Morgan & Morgan, handling workers’ compensation and related matters in her current practice.
