About Shaan
Shaan Chatterjee arrived at law through an unconventional path. He completed a B.A. at Reed College in 2014 and earned his J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in 2017. Those formative years placed him in classrooms known for clinical training and experiential learning. They also framed the practical approach he brings to everyday client problems.
After law school, Chatterjee entered private practice as an associate at the Law Office of Johanna Herrero. He joined a small firm environment where attorneys often handle cases from intake to resolution. The role required steady case management, courtroom preparation and client counseling. It also exposed him to the procedural demands of immigration matters in state and federal settings.
Chatterjee is licensed to practice in Massachusetts and is admitted to the Federal District Court of Massachusetts. He maintains active memberships in the State Bar of Massachusetts and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Those affiliations keep him connected to continuing legal education and to a network of practitioners who specialize in immigration law.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing filings and attentive in client meetings. He spends much of his time drafting briefs, preparing evidentiary packets and guiding clients through interviews and hearings. He handles procedural work in state settings and represents clients in federal immigration proceedings when they require representation in the district court.
Outside the courtroom, Chatterjee’s training at Northeastern is evident in the way he approaches fact development. He prioritizes early investigation and clear timelines. That approach helps to identify relief options and to set realistic expectations for clients who often face complicated timelines and deadlines.
He practices at the Law Office of Johanna Herrero, where he represents individuals on immigration matters across Massachusetts and in the federal district court. His work centers on case preparation, representation at hearings and managing procedural filings for clients navigating the immigration system.
