About Seth
Seth Hicks earned his J.D. from Southern Illinois University School of Law in 2009. He completed his legal education during a period of steady change in the profession. The degree provided the foundation for a practice that has been built across two Midwestern jurisdictions.
After law school Hicks began practicing in the Midwest. He is licensed to practice in both Illinois and Missouri. Over the years he has represented individuals and organizations in a variety of matters and has navigated the differing rules and procedures that come with practicing in two states.
Hicks works at Brown & Crouppen Law Office. He maintains a presence in the firm’s multiple offices and splits his time between them depending on client needs and case schedules. Colleagues describe him as pragmatic in his approach to casework and steady in his handling of deadlines and procedural requirements.
His work covers a range of everyday legal tasks. He prepares filings and briefs, meets with clients to assess options, and handles negotiations where settlement is appropriate. When cases require litigation, he oversees the procedural posture and manages the steps necessary to move matters through the court system. His experience in both Illinois and Missouri gives him perspective on how local practice differs from one jurisdiction to the next.
Outside of casework he has stayed engaged with the profession through membership in state bar-related groups and local legal communities. He attends continuing legal education programs to stay current on rule changes and recent decisions that affect practice in the two states where he is licensed.
Clients and peers see him as steady rather than flashy. He covers routine and complex tasks alike and is attentive to the practical needs of those he represents. His courtroom appearances and negotiated resolutions reflect a practice that values preparedness and clear communication.
He currently practices at Brown & Crouppen Law Office, handling matters across Illinois and Missouri.
